ASTRONOMIK G

Transmission measured by Philippe Rousselle
Manufacturer's curve

Filter for the green component of a color image. Transmission is where the CCD is most sensitive and therefore light quantity is always apreciable. It has in itself no major interest for imaging planets, except for Mars where it brings important informations.

INTEREST

- Getting the G frame of a RGB image
- Excellent light quantity available
- Little improvment of seeing from integrated light, by the stretching of the passing band.

PROBLEMS

- Moderately sensitive to seeing and sky transparency

Jupiter
12 june 2006 - Mewlon 210, Lumenera LU075M
The interest for imaging Jupiter is moderate except for color, or full resolution imaging, but even for this last the R filter will do better.

Saturn
1st april 2006 - Mewlon 210, Lumenera LU075M
The green filter can be interest for Saturn to bring out the 42°S spots.

Mars
25 october 2005 - Mewlon 210, Lumenera LU075M
Very important for Mars. It's first indispensable to reproduce some color nuances like yellow. But above all, it's indispensable for dust storm : the filter is highly sensitive to airborn dust and will allow a fullscale view of the spreading dust cloud. Contrast of those clouds is at maximum in green light..
