  1. semaine sur le Soleil

Quelles belles images ! Bravo pour le travail accompli.
  2. Soleil halpha du 16 mars avec la TSA120 + DS90

    Très beau, comme d'habitude.

  7. animation 3 filtres Solaires

    Joli !!!
  8. Belle image et belle animation. L'éjection a l'air rapide. Elle a duré combien de temps ?

  16. Lunt ou Coronado ?

Colmic, Le BF30 "made in Mexico", c'était un Coronado je suppose.
  18. Centre galactique made in France

Dear Jaques; This subject had come up for many years. I have explained it many times. I even posted on our website about “color difference”. I will explain and you may add info on your discussion board. I never go on discussion boards and of course, being as busy as I am, do not get personally involved in boards here in the USA and worldwide or I’d never get any work done! ;-) You can use this response if you like.Incoming light cones from the telescope encounter our beam splitter wall. This wall is created by cementing a right angle prism to a rhomboid The internal 45 degree wall of the right angle prism is coated with a 100% dielectric recipe of materials. Now, in an ideal world, 50% of the light would transmit through this wall upward and be diverted to the left side and up to the eyepiece field lens. The other 50% would be reflected to the right and then be sent upwards by a second internal prism wall, eventually sent to the right eyepiece field lens. Note that on this reflective side, there is a plano/plano light pipe which functions as a glass path equalizer to achieve equal focus on the right and left sides. Now, why would there be a difference between right and left sides? First of all, we do NOT use a hybrid metallic/dielectric coating. These types of commonly found coatings in some binos and microscope heads are very good at achieving equal left and right sides. However, they scatter and absorb ~10% of the incoming light! This is unacceptable to us. In microscopes, the light source is in the lab and it can be increased to counter this light loss. For us, our light source is the object being viewed! It has inherent brightness (or dimness if you will) and cannot be turned up. So a dielectric beam splitter wall is important. The difficulty in getting a perfect 50/50 has bothered me for many years. In reality, it is not so much one side being dimmer, it is actually that the transmission side (left) can be more efficient in transmitting blue light less effective transmitting toward the redder end. The reflective function can be more efficient in reflecting red and toward the faster blue, it falls below 50% in efficiency. So each side has it’s own deficiency in areas of the visible spectrum. The effect is that the left view may look like it is brighter in the faster area of the V Spectrum, the right better toward the red. Note that basically 100% of the incoming light is ending up in the merged final image! If you start viewing with one eye and comparing, you may see aspect, this but this is NOT how the binoviewers are used. The R/L are overlaid by your brain and form one image with all the light. This is why you may not have noticed this over the 8 years that you have used the Denks! You use them as they should be used; with both eyes. The original coaters in the southern USA could not eliminate this issue. I tried to get them to work on it, they could not. Then I moved operations to Spectrum Thin Films in NY, USA. There, we did the job. We were able to get very equal contents of color throughout the visible spectrum on both the transmission and reflection sides! Now, with the BINOTRON-27, we are achieving close to perfection with no deviation more than 48% along the 50/50 line. See our website where I took pictures of the Moon through the BINOTRON-27 right and left eyepieces. See the actual graph of the transmission curve on our website. We do not measure reflection curves. The reflection curve is always a mirror of the transmission curve. I have digital readouts that show transmission in very fine increments going from fast wavelengths to slow (400nm-700nm) and our latest Beam Splitter wall is amazing. So, we have eliminated color differences, but must you buy a BINOTRON-27? Well, its better in many ways. I have worked for well over a year and a half designing the new BINOTRON-27. It is on sale too! If the color difference bothers you, I have the solution. No we cannot swap prisms. This is certainly not a warranty issue or a flaw. We have researched, designed coatings at Spectrum, and solved some issues that while not particularly significant, are better to be solved than ignored. The BINOTRON-27 is made from the ground up and our new parts do not fit or work with our older binos. Jacques
