Chile 2007, under the southern skies

CHILE 2007 - UNDER THE SOUTHERN SKIES (April 2007)

This was my fourth mission to Chile (Vicuña, Mamalluca observatory, 29º59'21.1" Lat S 70º41'06.2" Long W, 1133m). Other missions were in 2001, 2003, and 2005. The main objectives were to obtain h-alpha CCD images of the southern skies using a SBIG ST-10XE and Astronomik H-alpha 13nm filter. Mamalluca observatory is located near Vicuña and close to Cerro Tololo and Cerro Pachon observatories.

Wide-field CCD images were obtained using the following equipment: EM-10 Takahashi Mount (self-guided 5 min exposures), SBIG ST-10XE, Zeiss Sonnar 135mm F/3.4. Total integration times varied from 60 to 210 min. All images © Pedro Ré.
