PP Programmer

This very low cost (about 30 €) parallel port programmer probably had its origins in Spain; at least this where I downloaded the design from when I built it at the begining of 2001. Also it has been described in the french magazine Electronique Pratique, in the december 2000 and january 2001 issue.

I have not been able to locate the original web site recently, but I still have the file available here for download; everything is in spanish but there is no mystery to uncover if you dont understand that language.

The programmer's capabilities include most of the PICmicro range, and also i2C EEPROMS such as the 24Cxxx series, also some SX chips..

The software to be used is the very reliable and often maintained program Icprog by Bonny Gitzen; it is usable under Windows NT/XP by use of a driver also available on Icprog's site.

A flaw in the original pcb design can be seen in the above photograph: as is, the programmer cannot accomodate "narrow" 28-pin chips such as the 16F87x or the 18F252; a corrected pcb (below) is included in the downloadable file and should be used instead.
