François Cochard made the first production prototype of Lhires III in July 2005. François also made the following important enhancements recently, after several key sky tests and numerous emails and face-to-face discussions with amateurs:
1. the grating mount was modified to 25x50mm,
2. the possibility to view the zero order spectrum for ease of slit image positioning,
3. easier slit removal,
4. an improved access door design for easier,
and a standard camera mounting.
