For several years, a preactical workshop is organized at Observatory of Haute Provence by AUDE association:
Lot of attendees and instruments are expected this year. The 2008 workshop is organised with the strong support of the french research organization CNRS. This translates with a large attendances of professional astronomers. |
Setting up rooms, equipment, facilities, etc... Weather seems ok for the week with a perturbation forcasted for the middle of the week. Everything is ready for this new 2008 edition of the workshop! |
This preliminary day is dedicated to the welcome of workshop attendees and equipemnt setup. This year, there are more than 15 instruments including C14/Lhires, Orion300/Lhires, Meade12/Lhires, C11/Lhires (x2), C11/echelle, C9/Lhires, C8/Lhires (x5), C8/Lisa, L120/Lhires, L80/StarAnalyser, etc... This is equivalent to an approx. 1m telescope collecting surface! Around 45 attendees come from Germany, Costa Rica, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, UK, Switzerland, and Turkey! |

| Following a very humide observing night, the official part of the workshop started with a welcome. Afternoon began with a talk from Ali, turkish professional astronomer, about 2006 solar eclipse and scientifical applications... |

Bad weather the night before so everyone processed their images in small groups. Excellent tour of the 193cm telescope incliding explaination of Sophie & Elodie spectrographs. Several conferences during the afternoon.

Good weather those two nights with several spectra acquired including QR Vul whose outburst has been discovered by Valérie Desnoux. She did select this Be star target with the new ARAS Beam tool.
After a round table on Be star program, Coralie Neiner presented the amateur contribution into the program with some pending articles. Two groups were very proud to take their first Be star spectra, they are now in BeSS database and visible in ARAS-Beam tool!!! But our olympic champions are running ahead... :-)

The outburst discovered by Valérie during the workshop is shown on this comparison of two spectra.
BeSS amateur record: Jose, Christian, Ernst are running ahead...
