NGC4236 Galaxy in Draco

(RA 12h 16.7m , Dec. +69°28', 9.6 mag., 18.6 x 6.9 arcmin.)


This dim and very large barred spiral galaxy is located 1°30' W of k Draconis (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on January 29, 2000 from Sooke, BC. Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 SCT autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. It is composed of six white exposures (240 sec. each) processed with AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
