NGC6572 Planetary Nebula in Ophiuchus

(RA 18h 12.1m , Dec. +6° 51', 8.1 mag., 8 arcsec.)

This bright oval-shaped planetary is easy to find with binoculars as a "star" about 2°15' SE of 71 Ophiuchi (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on June 25, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with eyepiece projection (f20). White exposures (24 x 30 sec.) were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered images (4 x 30 sec, 3 x 30 sec, and 4 x 30 sec., respectively) using AIP4WIN. Color image was then adjusted in Lab color space using Corel PhotoPaint 8.

Only part of the Cookbook 245 field of view is shown. North is to the right.

Map created in Guide 7.0 - 7°45' x 13°. North is up.
