NGC 7293 Helical nebula

Field centered on R.A. 22h 30' & Dec. -20° 50'

The elusive Helical nebula in Aquarius is one of the best Autumn targets. This planetary nebula has an huge size (16' of diameter, half of the size of the full moon) but it is really faint and difficult for northern observer. This is the closest planetary nebula to the Solar System, about 400 light years away. To record the faint OIII light typical of this nebula two shots of 90 min each made on Kodak Supra 400 from La Palma (Canary Islands) were stacked onto one shot of 90 min made on Kodak E200 from Namibia
