Pour s'inscrire au concours, veuillez vous présenter à la table d'inscription le samedi (voir horaire).		To register in the contest, present yourself at the registration table and sign in on saturday (see schedule).
Règlements Tous les instruments présentés au concours (optique, originalité/recherche et mécanique) doivent être en partie ou en totalité de fabrication artisanale. Si certaines parties sont manufacturées commercialement, le constructeur doit en aviser les juges. Une présentation peut se retrouver dans plus d'une catégorie. Exemple: un télescope peut être inscrit dans les catégories Optique, Mécanique et Originalité, et même DÉBUTANT si cela s'applique! Les photos qui seront présentées au concours de photographie doivent avoir été réalisées par des amateurs, avec un équipement d'amateur. Sont considérés débutants les astronomes amateurs qui en sont à leurs deux premières années actives en astronomie d'amateur. Les juges vont considérer les niveaux d'âge des individus. Les juges peuvent s'abstenir de donner un prix dans une catégorie de moins de 3 participants. Un participant ne peut recevoir plus d'un prix parmi les catégories suivantes : Mécanique, Originalité et Finesse du travail. * Le prix Fred-Clarke sera décerné en reconnaissance pour l'ensemble de l'oeuvre d'un astronome amateur impliqué dans la construction d'instruments astronomiques.		Rules All instruments entered into the contest (optics, originality/research and mechanical) must be either in part or its entirety handmade. If certain parts are manufactured commercially, the maker must tell the judges. A presentation can be entered into more than one category. Example: a telescope can be entered in the optics, mechanical, originality and even BEGINNER if this applies! The photographs entered into the photography contest must have been made by amateurs with amateur equipment. Beginners are considered to be in their first or second active years as amateur astronomers. Judges will take into account the age of the individuals. The judges can refrain from awarding a prize if the category has less than 3 participants. A participant cannot be awarded more than one prize amongst these categories: Mechanical, Originality & Workmanship. * The Fred-Clarke prize will be awarded to an involved amateur to recognize his/her scope of work in telescope making.

1. Catégorie Mécanique Voici la catégorie vedette du concours. Elle est destinée aux concurrents qui ont fabriqué un instrument quelconque relié à l'astronomie. Cet instrument sera jugé avant tout sur ses qualités mécaniques, c'est-à-dire sur la partie conception et fabrication. Critères évalués Complexité du système. Qualité et somme de travail investi dans la conception. Finition des diverses parties du système. Utilité et fonctionnalité de l'ensemble. En plus, s'il s'agit d'un instrument d'observation ou d'astrophotographie: Stabilité de l'instrument. Qualité du système d'entrainement horaire. Qualité du système de rappel en déclinaison. Stabilité de l'instrument.		1. Mechanical category Here is the star category for this contest. It is destined to participants who have made an instrument related to astronomy. This instrument will be judged primarily on its mechanical qualities in other words, on its creation and building. Evaluated criteria Complexity of the system Quality and amount of work invested in its creation Finishing of the system's numerous parts How useful and functional all of it is In addition, if it an observing or astrophotography instrument: Stability of the instrument Quality of the Right ascension guiding system Quality of the Declination guiding system Stability of the instrument
2. Catégorie optique. Cette catégorie est réservée aux amateurs ayant entièrement réalisé leur propre miroir principal, ou leur objectif. Test au sol: ce test sera effectué sur une cible au sol avec graduations/cibles pour chaque classe de miroirs. Si les juges le trouvent nécessaire, un deuxième test complémentaire sera fait en soirée (si le temps le permet) sur une étoile double.		2. Optics category This category is reserved for amateurs who have grinded their own optical mirror or objective. Ground test: this ground test has to be done with a target with gradations/targets for each class of mirror. If the judges find it necessary, a second complementary test can be done during the evening (weather permitting) using a double star.
3. Catégorie Photographie Toutes les photographies présentées doivent avoir été réalisées par des amateurs, avec un équipement du commerce ou fabriqué artisanalement, sans pénalités. Il est laissé à la discrétion du photographe de présenter des photos de ce qui lui plait, toujours dans le domaine de l'astronomie exclusivement. Critères évalués Esthétique (composition). Mise au point, guidage, résolution vs instrument utilisé. Originalité et Genre d'objet photographié (difficulté technique). * Un amateur ayant opéré lui-même le tirage de ses photos verra celles-ci jugées favorablement.		3. Photography category All photographs presented must have been made by amateurs with commercial equipment ou handmade without penalty. It is up to the photographer to present the photographs he/she likes best and they should always be related to an astronomical subject exclusively. Evaluated criteria Esthetics (composition). Focus, guiding, resolution vs instrument used Originality and Type of object photographed (technical difficulty). * An amateur who has developed and printed his own images will gain points with the judges.
4. Catégorie Originalité Le produit présenté dans cette catégorie peut être de plusieurs natures. Ce peut être un télescope qui a des propriétés originales, une carte du ciel, une table équatoriale, un instrument quelquonque qui a rapport à l'astronomie et qui est fait maison. On examinera l'Ingéniosité du produit ainsi que ses propriétés utilitaires.		4. Originality category The product presented in this category can be many things. It could an original concept of a telescope, a special star chart, an equatorial table, a special instrument which is related to astronomy and handmade. We will examine the ingenuity of the product as well as it's useful properties.
5. Catégorie Recherche Cette catégorie touche à toutes les types de recherches qui sont de l'astronomie d'amateur. On peut y présenter des travaux de recherche astronomique, tout comme on peut y présenter une recherche qui a rapport à un instrument que nous avons fabriqué, ou une recherche qui a rapport au côté historique de l'astronomie, etc.. La recherche doit être présentée sur papier ou un montage informatisé.		5. Research category This category covers all the different types of research relating to amateur astronomy. One can enter a astronomical research project, a research relating to an instrument one built or perhaps a research relating to the history of astronomy, etc...The research should be presented on paper or mounted as an electronic document.
6. Catégorie Débutant Dans cette catégorie, le concurrent doit avoir moins de 2 ans d'activité astronomique amateur, ou moins de 18 ans. Il doit avoir conçu et réalisé lui-même ce qu'il présente (supervision acceptée). La présentation peut être de n'importe quelle nature, d'autant que ce soit relié à l'astronomie. Critères d'évaluation: Complexité. Somme de travail investie. Utilité, fonctionnalité. Innovation et recherche. Si l'oeuvre présentée est innovatrice et démontre un certain travail de recherche, le tout sera jugé favorablement.		6. Beginner category In this category, the participant must have less than 2 years of amateur astronomical activity or is less than 18 years old. He/she must have conceived and created himself/herself what he/she entered (supervision is accepted). The presentation can be of any nature as long as it is related to astronomy. Evaluated criteria Complexity. Amount of work invested Usefullness, functionality Innovation and research. If the work presented is innovative and shows a certain amount of research, it will be judged favorably.
7. Catégorie Logiciel et Technologie LOGICIEL: Cette sous-catégorie regroupe les amateurs ayant realisé un logiciel, soit un montage électronique servant d'une façon ou d'une autre à une utilisation astronomique. Complexité du logiciel (algorythmes, language de programmation, nombres de fonctionnalités, facilité de mise-à-jour, compatibilité avec les différentes plateformes) Somme de travail investie - qualité graphique Absence de "bugs" Le logiciel est terminé en entier TECHNOLOGIE: Cette sous-catégorie réunit tous les montages électroniques ayant été conçus pour des fins astronomiques. Ex. Webcams modifieés, caméra CCD fabriquées, circuits d'alimentations divers, integers au télescope, manette de contrôle, etc Complexité du système électronique Somme de travail investie Qualité et précision dans l'assemblage des composantes - compacité du système Présence de composantes secondaires d'assistance: conposantes de sécurité (limit switches, fusibles, afficheur de tension, etc), LEDS identificateurs de fonctionnement, identificateurs graphiques divers, etc.		7. Software and Technology category SOFTWARE: This sub-category assembles amateur astronomers who have created software or a electronic assembly for astronomical purposes. Complexity of the software (algorythms, programmming language, number of functions, ease of updating, compatibility with the different platforms) Amount of work involved - graphics quality Absence of "bugs" The software is completed TECHNOLOGY: This sub-category assembles all electronics assemblies created for astronomical purposes. Ex. Modified Webcams, creation of CCD cameras, various electronic circuits, integers at the telescope, handset control, etc. Complexity of the electronics system Amount of work involved Quality & precision of the assembling of the system's components - compactness of the system Presence of secondary components: security components (limit switches, fuses, tension indicator, etc), on/off indicators LEDS, various graphic indicators, etc.
8. Finesse du travail Catégorie pour la finesse du travail, la minutie et la dextérité du travail accompli.		8. Craftmanship Category for great craftmanship, work accomplished meticulously and with great dexterity.
9. Le prix Fred-Clarke Il sera décerné en reconnaissance de l'ensemble de l'oeuvre d'un astronome amateur, qui s'est impliqué dans la construction d'instruments astronomiques. Les candidats seront selectionnés sur le terrain par les juges de cette catégorie. Ce prix est attribué en mémoire de monsieur Fred Clarke.		9. The Fred-Clarke award This prize will be awarded to recognize the accomplishments of an amateur astronomer involved with the building and creation of astronomical instruments. The candidates selected in field by the judges of this category. The prize is named in memory of M. Fred Clarke.
