Little Gem Planetary Nebula (NGC6818) in Sagittarius

(RA 19h 44.0m , Dec. -14°09', 9.3 mag., >17" in diameter)


This bright, blue planetary is located about 6°25' NE of r1 Sagittari (see finder chart below). Barnard's Galaxy (NGC6822) is located 37' SSE.

The above images was "captured" low over SW horizon on October 29, 2000 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with eyepiece projection to achieve f20. White exposures (13 x 60 sec.) were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered images (5 x 30 sec. , 4 x 30 sec. and 4 x 30 sec., respectively) using AIP4WIN software and the image was furter adjusted in Lab color space with Corel PhotoPaint 8.

Only a quater of the original Cookbook frame is shown. North is to the left.
