Ils comprennent rapidement qu'ils ont sous les yeux une "supernova", un phénomène violent qui se produit lorsqu'une étoile explose, et qu'il est extrêmement rare d'observer de si près. En effet, SN 2014J, comme elle est désormais baptisée, n'est qu'à... 11,5 millions d'années-lumière de la Terre , ce qui, dans l'univers, est une distance relativement proche.Wow !
